A handwritten letter and a flowchart

Unboring comms training that taps into your creativity, grows your confidence and helps you make a powerful impact
Hello!?Hel Reynolds?here, with some comms inspiration to?warm up your creative muscles.
Once again, I'm getting this out late when you're probably?enjoying the weekend.
But I set myself a challenge to get this out weekly, and you 're reading this - so mission accomplished!
Let's do this.
Comms Creatives content of the week
?COTW of the week this week comes from? Wicklow County Council Library Service.
This post shows a letter from a domestic abuse survivor who appreciated?the library as a place for?more than just books.?
In a world of Kindles and other online ways to read, this illustrated brilliantly how?a library can be?a safe space to learn, access information, find trusted people to talk to,?or just have some quiet time alone.
I love how the caption shows how much this means to the librarians who work there.
They don't just do the job for the money - they want to support and inspire people.
It tells?a great story.
But why I LOVE this is because it demonstrates something we're very keen on at Comms Creatives Academy.
This simple snap?of a letter was enough?of capture my attention in my homefeed.
They didn't have a photo of the person who write the letter. Often we like to have to images to accompany case studies when we write them.
And they haven't used a?photo of the original handwritten letter - they've?rewritten?it to protect the writer.
The story is real but they illustrated it with something that recreates the experience the librarian had reading it for the first time.
It's lovely. Nice one Wicklow Libraries.
Find ways to tell more stories
A lot of social media and comms professionals like to share stories, but never get to share them because they discover there isn't a photo they can use of the person.
Maybe they don't have permission to use a photo or there's sensitive information that identifies the person in some way.
Or perhaps?it happened ages ago, and it feels like the moment is lost.
These are the?the kind of challenges that comms pros come across all the time.
An "oh, we can't do it because..." challenge.
The lesson here is about creative thinking.
You might not be able to share a story exactly how you might want to, but don't give up.
Next time you think you can't share a good story, because obstacle means you can't share it in your usual way - ask yourself "What?can?we do to bring this story to life?"
Because your audience deserves to hear the inspiring things you do.
Don't let great stories die.

When a silly thought goes viral
I spoke at the Inside Housing Conference this week.
It reminded me of the last time I spoke at that conference in person, years ago.
And I shared a little story about it, thinking it would make a few of us lot in comms chuckle. But it went huge! I posted it on Linkedin and TikTok and someone else posted it on Twitter.
And, my oh my, did the tone and positivity of comments vary across platforms!
I learned A LOT that will apply to corporate comms, and I'll write about it next week as I think there's some useful insights I can share.
