Hands Up If You Wash Your Hands After Using The Loo
If not. please leave them in your pockets!
I'm not sure if I'm more observant at the moment but I'm noticing a lot, nay most people using public toilets are not washing their hands when they finish their, erm, business.
Although following my best non-confrontational scowl at a man this morning in the gym changing rooms, he went back & washed his hands.
During the pandemic - sorry for mentioning 'that' time that should be locked in the vaults of our history - people became consciously aware of the need for personal hygiene but I'm noticing a drift back towards bad habits.
I'm not here to preach about the need for improved personal hygiene as I can avoid people if needed. I'm more concerned about the drift away from those conscious positive acts that became part of our daily routines during 'that' time.
That time when we stepped aside to let people pass. When we washed our hands - often. When we coughed into tissues. When we held the door for others.
In short we considered the needs of both ourselves & those around us.
Washing our hands after using the loo isn't something that keeps me awake at night. Personal hygiene & the personal impact of this is, well, personal.
It's the impact that our actions have on others that concerns me more.
Opening that door following a bathroom trip, fondling the vegetables in a supermarket, shaking hands with someone you've just met.........
We don't wake up in a morning & make a decision to negatively impact on others, but through our actions we often do.
Taking responsibility for our personal hygiene not only brings the basic act of hand washing into our consciousness it also awakens our consciousness to those around us, & our impact on them.
Smiling at a stranger who stepped aside for us, shaking hands with people. Opening that door & generally making a conscious effort to be better all starts with the little, often insignificant acts that we overlook when locked in our own bubble.
Being aware of those around me & conscious of my actions makes me feel good & we all need a little bit more of that.
Taking that time to consider how our actions impact on those around us improves our life as well as that interaction with others so wash your hands & have a great day.
Cheers
Noel

1 年I wear a scarf when out and about; to open doors, hold onto hand rails, press buttons and much much more (I wear gloves when using petrol pumps); maybe i'm a bit weird but clean hands is a massive thing for me!

1 年It amazes me the amount of women that don’t wash their hands when using public toilets, especially in restaurants and pubs! ??
