On September 30, The Hollywood Reporter covered this project, highlighting the collaboration between the major global media organizations and its participants. This initiative is particularly crucial as it comes ahead of a historic U.S. election, emphasizing the importance of combating misinformation. It also complements key industry initiatives like C2PA and Project Origin to explore practical, global collaborative efforts and share best practices.

Gov. Gavin Newsom Signs AI Bills Backed by SAG-AFTRA
California Governor Gavin Newsom visited SAG-AFTRA headquarters on Monday September 16 to sign two laws regulating the use of performances generated by AI. The actors’ union lobbied for this legislation, which builds on protections won during last year’s four-month actors’ strike against major studios. These bills cover a broader range of performances than just film and TV, including voiceover work, commercials, and video game performances.
HAND (Human & Digital) applauds Newsom for signing these two laws to protect actors and talent rights in the age of AI. While federal legislation is in the works with the NO FAKES Act, the states are once again leading the way in providing a path forward to realizing the “4 C’s” - Consent, Control, Credit, and Compensation - of talent.
We are proud to be a piece of the puzzle in this new and necessary evolution of the media supply-chain.
