Handling Election Stress

Handling Election Stress

Are you feeling stressed with the upcoming election?

You are not alone. According to American Psychological Association more than two-thirds of U.S. adults say that the 2020 U.S. presidential election is a significant source of stress in their lives.

I am getting many inquiries to speak and lead webinars on how to handle pre- and post-election stress. Let me know if you have a group or organization that may be interested.

How can you not feel overwhelmed when there are health concerns from the pandemic, economic uncertainty, social unrest and the hostility and division of the presidential election?

What is one to do?

Now more than ever we need to be as grounded, resilient, and clear-minded as possible. That is why focusing on the things you have control over is an expression of wisdom.

The way we show up for ourselves and each other is crucial. We need to understand that the ripple effect we are each creating affects all of us. Our work as human beings is apolitical. No matter what political view you hold, there is a step you can take to unify society and move forward to serve the higher good.

We need to do our best not to leverage fear and hatred but to return to our essence of love. Being, experiencing and expressing love.

Once you have fulfilled your civic duty by voting, take a step further and ask yourself how you can be and express love at this particular time in history.

I invite you to take your place with compassion and kindness.

Here are some practical tips to help you:

·      Focus on what you can control

·      Practice good eating, sleeping, and exercising habits regularly

·      Spend less time on social media or watching the news

·      Stay connected to friends and family who are nurturing and supportive.
