Tip – Don’t cater for the cynics, serve the majority!?Don’t take it personally when that one nasty narky person makes a snide comment.?You can’t please everybody all of the time.
A quick story for you about Dev in Delhi this week.
My client, Dev is on my Speak Like a Leader programme and he confessed to me he avoids any form of public speaking because a while back, he had a massive blow to his confidence because of one particular CYNIC.
One person (let’s call her Ms Fussy)
“She sat in the front row and judged me. She was cynical about my level of knowledge, and it made me doubt myself and feel unconfident…..I crumbled, I was embarrassed. They completely unpicked me.”
Poor Dev. I can totally relate to this. Can you?
However, I encouraged him to put that experience behind him and start afresh…I suggested to him…
“It’s time to claim back your confidence.”
Ms Fussy is a cynic.?What do you think her actions say about her as a person I wonder??
It’s normal to feel like this, however it’s a real shame to let ONE PERSON hijack your entire career as a result of your dented inner confidence levels.
SO how can you handle a cynic?
I shared this blog with Dev about dealing with cynics including my 5 top tips.?
Essentially, the message is this;?Stand your ground, be strong, be brave, know your own mind, adopt the power POSE, smile and don’t let them get to you!
