Handling Acronyms Using Regular Expressions

One can hardly overestimate the power of “regular expression” and its benefits in translation tasks pipeline, especially QA/ QM. A simple example is handling Acronyms/ Abbreviations.
There is no need for searching for each occurrence of each acronym along several, or even dozens of files. Also, the linguist does not need to scrutinize and scan the files searching for any acronym that may be went under radar.
?A simple regular expression can search for all the Acronyms in the files and filter the view to only display them.
\b(?:[A-Z][a-z]*){2,}
?
This can be easily applied in MemoQ, Trados Studio, Wordfast any other tool that supports Regular Expressions.
Just remember to activate “Regular Expression “ check box….
