For many of us, it is time to consider a pivot, a repositioning, a fine-tuning, or a reimagination of our businesses. Whatever you would like to call it, change is inevitable in business… and life. We have to be ready, willing, and able to adapt to market conditions.

I have been spending quite a bit of time supporting clients through pivots as well as reshaping my own business. Here are a few things to noodle on:

• Self-compassion:?Stay in the present and be kind to yourself. ?You are making the best decision for your business based on the information you have right now.?Rewinding and revisiting “the would of, could of, should of,” scenarios of the past is a misuse of your energy.
• Overcommunicate: When in doubt, overcommunicate. Repeat it for yourself and the team. Be clear and consistent.?If you aren’t sure if you have shared the new direction enough, repeat it again
• Take action, ?but hunker down:?This is a weird combination of speed and patience or a hurry up and wait. Make your decisions with clarity and speed.?Take decisive action. ANNNNND then be patient to see the results of your pivot.

Sarah is a trained metalsmith with an emphasis on enamel. She uses her enamel jewelry to bring color and vibrancy to her art. Her pieces flawlessly combine her love of nature and cityscapes to make one-of-a-kind and unique jewelry.

Last week, I spent a few days in Washington DC with Meta’s Leaders Network to advocate for small businesses.?
