HANA Smart Data Integration (SDI)
Introduction:
SAP HANA Smart Data Integration?and?SAP HANA Smart Data Access?provide tools to access source data and provision, replicate, and transform that data in SAP HANA on-premise or in the cloud.
Smart Data Integration (SDI) allows you to securely transfer critical business data to and from the Commissions application, enabling you to easily synchronize and share data within your organization.
Capabilities include:
·???????A simplified landscape; that is, one environment in which to provision and consume data
·???????Access to more data formats including an open framework for new data sources
·???????In-memory performance, which means increased speed and decreased latency.
SDI Components:
SDI has two main components.
1. Data Provisioning Server (DPServer):
DPServer is natively available in the HANA database. We need to activate the DPServer in the HANA configuration.
2. Data Provisioning Agent?(DP Agent):
The Data Provisioning Agent manages all SDI Adapters and connections to HANA database. It acts as the communication interface between HANA and the Adapter. The?DP Agent version must match with the HANA version.
SDI Architecture :
Use this checklist to get started with the?setup and configuration process.
S-User ID : To Download the Dumps i.e DP Agent.
DP Agent server : To install DP Agent
HANA HTTPs URL : Required to create the data provisioning agent.
Web IDE URL : Required to import/export projects and create flowgraphs.
HANA DB credentials : Required to access Schema/Data.

Steps to install DP Agent and to register Adapters:
1. Download the DP Agent. (Hana DP Agent 2.0 Must Match with your HANA DB Version)
2. Install the DP Agent on separate server using ./hdbsetup..
3. Click on Register Agent and give the Agent Name.
4. Connect Agent to HANA (Index Server Port and schema user password)
???????????We can see the agent name is registered, and the agent status started.
5. Select ABAPAdapter and click on Register Adapter.
Once the ABAP Adapter is registered in DP Agent, we can check in HANA under SYS Schema->Expand VIEWS->Right click on ADAPTER and select data preview to check whether an entry is created.
?
Now its time to create the remote Sources:
1. Create remote data source by open the folder called “Provisioning” in HANA.
2. Then right click on the “Remote Sources”, select “New Remote Source…”.
Create the new remote source by maintaining the following fields:
?
3. Choose one adapter from the adapter list in the popup dialog and select the source location, fill in corresponding connection and authentication information of the remote data source.
4. After filling the connection information, press the run button to create remote data source
5. After the Remote data source is created in SAP HANA Studio, we need to map the tables in ?????remote data source as “Virtual Table” to our schema.
6. Now you can use these virtual table for replication task, A reptask basically takes data from one table and moves it into another.
