A Hammock or a Hammer?
So, you bought a new house! Congratulations! If it's your first home you are about to embark on some exciting adventures. Life is going to change in ways you never imagined. I have been a Realtor for many many many many years. I have helped hundreds of new home buyers find and settle into their first new home. I have learned one true thing.
You are going to need a hammer.
One of my Realtor friends buys all her new clients a hammock for the back yard. Another buys everyone an engraved cutting board. Not me, I've been around the block. My first time home owners get a handy dandy tool box with a solid claw hammer and assorted tools including a picture hanging kit and band-aids.
It's the one thing I know everyone will be able to use! As you unpack all those boxes and start to settle in you will find uses for everything in that tool box. Scissors, nails, pliers, screws, duct tape, box cutter, screwdrivers, you name it, you'll use it, and thank me. You might have your own tools, but they are probably packed. Your new tool box, on the other hand, will be right on the kitchen counter on closing day, waiting.
And when you've unpacked the last box and finally settled down to a family dinner of pizza and wings, put that toolbox in a bottom kitchen cupboard or pantry. You won't have to go digging in the garage when it's finally time to hang the family pictures!
