This type of job refers to workers who engage in hard manual labor and work long hours and mentally tasking challenges typically in agriculture, manufacturing, construction, mining, or maintenance. The stigma attached to these jobs prompted Karl Hughes to write a book to speak on behalf of the blue collar worker. Having experienced it all himself, he aims to break the stereotypes placed on this type of job and to encourage his readers to see the value of the work they do, regardless of what it is.

According to Karl Hughes, success has something to do with the kind of value that we add in the field where we are. Regardless of one’s chosen path, the element of success is possible if we get to add something of value to what we do. Increasing your value at work includes motivating yourself to take control of your own career, being reputable in the workplace, honing your skill sets, seeing every project as an opportunity for growth, and working it all out on a daily basis.
