18 months ago I decided to exit the mainstream advertising business. To be honest, life when you get to my age, is too short for the snail’s pace of corporate life. I still do a bit of consultancy for brands, helping them turbo charge their content production, but in the main I have become ‘an investor.’
The businesses I back are ones that excite me, and that I believe are marketing sensitive. So I can help get the marketing right, and add some value.
Hammer is one such business. It’s an irresistible brand with an irresistible history. And a back catalogue of classic horror movies to die for. Literally.
Hammer's still in movie production (our last big one was the massively successful Woman in Black.) But in search of new channels and new ways to build this amazing brand, we’ve decided to branch out into ‘immersive experiences.’ It seems a natural for a brand so famous for tingling the spine.
The Hammer House of Horror’s first production ‘The Soulless Ones’ is written and directed by some of the most talented players in the booming London immersive scene. (The brand can certainly attract talent!)
We’ve taken over the Hoxton Hall for the month of October up until Halloween. The show has twelve different plot lines, 120 different scenes, a 300 page script, seven different auditoriums, two bars and eight very cool Vampires.
From what I’ve seen of rehearsals so far, 'The Soulless Ones' promises to be spine tingling, entertaining, and sexy in equal measure. Certainly, it’s the most exciting production I’ve ever been involved in!
This year is a test run for next. We’re looking for partners who want to play with the world’s most revered horror ‘content’ brand. Tech. Booze. Fashion. Virtual Reality. Media.
