Hamilton Health Sciences Recognized for Leadership in Environmental Sustainability
Hamilton Health Sciences
We are a community of 15,000 staff, physicians, researchers, and volunteers that proudly serves southwestern Ontario.
For the fifth consecutive year, Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) has received an award for Best Sustainability Report by Sustainability Leadership (formerly Sustainable Hamilton Burlington). The award was given at a ceremony held on June 1 at the Royal Botanical Gardens. HHS was among many local businesses and organizations that received recognition for their outstanding sustainable practices.?
“This award acknowledges HHS for our leadership in developing a very comprehensive report reflecting our ongoing corporate initiatives in environmental stewardship,” said Kelly Campbell, vice president of corporate services and capital development. “The quality of the report itself is thanks to the efforts of a large stakeholder group that works tirelessly on the content each year.”
The award signals to our patients and community that HHS is committed to strengthening our social, environmental, and financial sustainability, and demonstrating where we excel and where we need to go. The information within the report is used to gauge the efficiency and quality of our organization, and what additional value we generate beyond the expectations of delivering safe, quality health care.
During the judging process, HHS was assessed against several criteria, including completeness of reporting against several performance indicators, accuracy/quality of data, balance (areas of success and areas for improvement), stakeholder engagement, methodology, and context.
