Halo, 我是Fendy! And this is my story...

"I'm Fendy, what's your name?" As a young, introverted Indonesian boy, this was my first ever sentence in English.

It felt awkward... but I managed to make some friends by repeating that one sentence!

I came into Singapore at the age of 8, not knowing English or Chinese.

Coming from a poor family background, my family brought me out of Indonesia to migrate to Singapore so we can seek a better future for ourselves. My mum was a cleaner, and my stepfather was a security guard.

Because we were "not well off" and I barely had money to eat in the school canteen, I had to get creative to earn some pocket money for myself.

I did things like buying pencils from Indonesia for 500 rupiah and selling them to my classmates for $0.50 each... (my very first business "venture") It was cheap for my classmates... it was profit for me... win-win!

As someone who's very introverted, I was found myself alone in most of my schooling days... all I wanted to do was make some friends

But I never knew how.

I soon discovered my first self-improvement book "How To Make Friends" and read it, trying very hard to "fit in". Having no friends throughout my childhood made me feel inferior... to the point that I thought something was wrong with me.

Things got better in Secondary School, where I made more friends, working part time and even learnt how to build websites so I can help others do it.

After completing my Diploma and finishing my National Service... came a point in most teenage boy's life of "What to do after NS?"

I was no different. I felt very lost on what to do after ORD, as I've never thought so far before.

At that point of time, poly graduates only earn a salary of about $1,600/month.

I knew that's not enough for me to give my family a better life...

However, all I knew was that I wanted to make an "above average" monthly income of 5 figures, and enter a career where I can really excel.

With no corporate job experience, I saw an ad on the newspaper for a real estate agency that claimed "Be Your Own Boss And Earn At Least $10,000 A Month!"

I immediately made a phone call, arranged for an interview, and met the director.

It was coincidental that the director was my secondary school mate, and we were even in the same OCS training platoon. We caught up and he shared with me his team culture and system, and the vision he has for all his teammates.

I remember the first time I listened to him speak... I bought in almost immediately and I believed that if I wanted to achieve success, this is exactly where I needed to be.

And my journey in Real Estate began from there...

Throughout my career of over 13 years, I've had my fair share of up's and down's.

I've won. I've lost. I've celebrated. I've cried.

Tasted success, failures, struggles and debt.

The journey in a real estate career wasn't easy.

And having gone through numerous market crashes, economic crises and cooling measures, there were many times I wanted to give up...

But my desire to succeed was strong.

And it made my achievements all the more worth it.

Fast forward 13 years, I've started my team of 20 and grew to over 200 passionate, fun and driven real estate professionals. We are called Fendy Lee Group and we the #1 top performing division in Huttons as of 2021.
