Hallucinations: how often does your AI Scribe hallucinate?

If you’ve tried any AI Scribe, you might have noticed the fact that the AI included information that was NOT discussed during your conversation with your patient.

Without getting into the nitty gritty, the truth is, most of these AI tools are built on models which have some limitations in the way they generate and process language.

?

So, when the AI encounters ambiguous or incomplete information, it may fill in gaps by generating plausible but inaccurate details.

I can tell you first hand that after implementing multiple AI Scribes in different specialties, 100% of the scribes I’ve piloted do hallucinate.

It’s not a question of - which are the tools that do not hallucinate - but rather a question of which AI Scribe hallucinates less!!?

If you find an AI tool that works best for your workflow, one of the fastest ways to avoid hallucinations is by means of Templates.

Invest some time in creating templates; for example, create a “Migraine” template for your migraine consults? instead of using the generic SOAP template provided by your AI Scribe platform.

That being said, if you are going to use AI Scribe in your practice, depending on your practice, you should take note of the following;?

-Not all AI Scribes allow for template creation.

-Some tools have the ability to create “shortcuts or macros”? which auto-fills common phrases or repetitive statements.

-Look for tools that have “voice corrections”. Meaning you can easily edit your note by means of a voice command

-Find an AI Scribe that includes “template creation” in its “free trial”

-Note that some AI Scribes are specialty - trained …if possible.

Depending on your practice, you can optimize your AI Scribe experience by just making sure that you spend some time creating templates and shortcuts/macros before fully integrating? into your workflow…

Until next time.
