Halloween and Mentoring 2
Part 2 #MentoringSeries #WaterForThought
The previous day I was fully immersed in my mentoring program and once again the idea of the Mentee as a Hero on a Journey emerged and was shaping my next steps in framing mentoring for one of my corporate clients.
Link 2: In Joseph Campbell’ monomyth, the observed pattern of time lasting stories, the Mentor appears at the beginning of the Story and the Mentor’s role is to “source” the Hero so that she/he will get the courage and step into the “extraordinary world” that awaits to be explored.
Coming back to our Halloween at Home episode, the garlic had to serve as a secret defense weapon that our little Heroes were to receive at the door after answering a first tricky question.
So there I was, dressed up in …Guess???
No!I bet you won’t!
I was Piglet :)
I welcomed the Kids, asked the question, received the right answer, gave them the garlic and you should have seen the looks on their little faces…
“What??? Garlic??? We came here for sweets!”
But while adults would have reasoned with me on this topic and would have started a real debate on the very sense of Trick or Treat, the kids started laughing and were ready to see what’s next.
After entering the house, the door closed with a bang and all the lights were suddenly off. Everyone stopped from breathing for a second…
As they saw the sparkle of a candle after the kitchen corner, a soft voice whispered to them: Follow the light!
To be continued.
