Halloween and Mentoring 3

Halloween and Mentoring 3

Part 3 #MentoringSeries #WaterForThought

Kids love stories and they love being part of an adventure where they have to overcome certain obstacles and where they eventually get to be “winning”. With eyes wide open, little hearts pounding and hands deep in their pockets they walked giggling to the big table on top of which there was a written note: “go through the under the table tunnel and you will find a treasure”.

“Before you make the first step, you need to practice your superhero move. You never know when you need it!”, whispered Piglet and an explosion of energy followed like in simultaneous display of superhero movies.

At the end of the tunnel a piece of bread was waiting for them. “What?”, I heard again but this time round they were laughing. “Why is this a treasure?” “Some questions have no answer, or maybe they have…”, said Piglet smiling

Lost in the moment I forgot to direct them to the next milestone and they short circuited the route and ran to the scariest rooms where, a troll gave them a handful of sweets but not for nothing…in exchange for “food”.

They could not believe their ears. The bread, or at least what was left of it, as some was half gone already,  came actually to be of help.

Link 3: It has to get hard before it gets easy. Or, on any transformation/change journey we have to  travel the U shape. We need to let go of something in order to create space for something new to emerge.

Victorious, skipping and turning around they got caught off-guard when Tiger, since no Dracula costume was available, jumped out of the closet and threatened to snatch all their sweets. Behind Tiger a bag of sweets was “sparkling” like gold in the light of a torch.

What to do?

Last Link: There comes a time in a story when the mentors are left with no advice or resource to share and the heroine or hero are on their own to figure out the best way forward.

The kids decided to show off some of their hero gestures to which Tiger had to give up.

The adventure continued until they collected all the sweets and went to N’s room to celebrate the victory!

 Over?

Yes and No :)

Stay tuned for the Epilogue.
