Halloween 2020
It’s hard to believe this weekend is Halloween! We all know it’s been a crazy year and we’ve seen events and traditions canceled, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still celebrate and enjoy this special holiday.
The Durango Elks Lodge will be hosting a contest for decorated businesses and homes, “Nightmare on Elk Street Decorating Contest.” This fundraiser allows community members to “purchase” votes, and winners receive cash prizes. There is a residential and a business category. This is a fun and safe way to decorate and get into the holiday spirit, as well as support a local organization.
The Cunngingham Haunt House in Farmington will transition to a “drive by” haunted house, so visitors may see it from the street or driveway. Most years they create a haunted maze through the yard and carport for visitors, but this year is geared toward social distanced fun. It’ll only be open Halloween Night, but it’s a unique Halloween home.
Local Trick or Treating is still an option, but the San Juan Basin Public Health executive director recommends sticking to your own neighborhood, and if you give out candy to do so spaced out and at the end of the driveway.
How are you celebrating Halloween? We would love to see pics – tag us on social media so we can share. Happy Halloween from The Durango Team.
