Today is #WorldHealthDay . It marks the anniversary of the World Health Organization 's founding back in 1948, and each year, a public health issue is highlighted as a focus of the celebration.
This year’s focus is the fundamental right of every person, regardless of where they are, to access essential health services, education, and information. A powerful reminder that health is a global effort. Celebrating all the healthcare workers pushing us towards that future.

It was a great week last week on the floor at Medicarians - a beautiful venue with no shortage of interesting sessions.
A few key takeaways:
?? Starting in 2024, all health plans will be required by mid-year to inform their members of the benefits they have. This will help one of the biggest pain points emerging in the last year - understanding and utilizing benefits.
?? Every MAPD member will be impacted by the Inflation Reduction Act, likely causing members to experience an increase in their monthly premiums, even though the maximum out-of-pocket limit remains capped at $2,000.
?? Adjustments are coming to funding. This could necessitate strategic and operational changes within health plans to maintain financial stability and continue providing quality care to Medicare Advantage beneficiaries.
Across all of these changes, retention has been and will continue to be a critical focus. Hallmark Business Connections works with one of the largest national health plans. They use 10 million Hallmark cards annually to keep in touch with their clients year-round, and their retention rate is 16% higher compared to non-Hallmark card recipients.
Guidance is essential in care navigation, and direct mail plays a special role in informing members about their benefits.
Hallmark cards are a recognized, appreciated, and impactful way to encourage healthy behaviors, disseminate updates, and support them in taking full advantage of their plans.

The latest report from FAIR Health, Inc. reveals a remarkable 202% increase in the public use of retail health clinics from 2021 to 2022, highlighting a significant shift towards more accessible and cost-effective healthcare options.
This surge reflects a broader trend of patients prioritizing convenience and affordability in their healthcare choices, causing retail health clinics to emerge as key players in the healthcare delivery landscape. Their strategic locations and affordable services make them an attractive option for non-emergency care.
