While it is indeed true that wearable sensor technology or camera detection systems are much less expensive than installing sensors underneath the floor the quality of care does not come close to that of SensFloor.

The Downside of cameras & wearables:

The biggest downfall when it comes to wearable is that a patient could quite simply forget to wear the device. Patients are also known to accidentally knock the device which could either set off a false alarm or knock the wearable from the patient's wrist.

SensFloor, however, works through proximity sensors. therefore there is no chance of a patient accidentally triggering the fall alarm nor knocking a sensor off their person.

If the patient is known for falling on their way out of the washroom a carer will be alert and ready to aid the patient as the alert sounds.

Cameras also have disadvantages, the biggest being the field of view cannot be blocked. Should one decide to move the furniture around their home they need to be mindful of the cameras which really limits their options.

SensFloors readings, however, will not be bothered by this change.

The proximity sensors are installed across the entire area of the floor of the room. You can easily jump into the configuration side of the app and adjust the floor plan or change layout through a simple drag and drop option.

As shown in the image above, areas are selected and tagged in order to issue the alert. To change the area it is as simple as a drag and drop and this can be done through your personal device.
