What are some of the major concerns that shoppers brought up?

  • Being retargeted with the same item they had just purchased?
  • Receiving ads for products that were not age-appropriate?
  • Getting recommendations for products designed for a different gender

Clearly, the targeting methods of many brands need a little bit of fine-tuning, to say the least.

To us, these problems feel like the result of too much of a good thing: that good thing being automation. Automation is great when it saves time, but the robot overlords haven’t quite caught up to a human capabilities for nuance just yet.

How to Target Humans Like a Human

1?? Go back to basics. Start with he individual buyer profile, including demographics, online behavior, purchase history, repeat purchases and loyalty. These can all be gleaned from social channels.

2?? Use SEO in your product descriptions. If your brand ranks high for relevant terms, your ads will target everyone actively searching for your products and services.

3?? Make use of good automations like chatbots. Chatbot conversations can give you insight into whether a visitor is actually in your demographic or just landed on your website by accident.

With all these things in mind, you’re ready to start targeting with ads that will actually hit the bullseye ??
