"Haley's Havoc"..... What is this nonsense??? Well, it is better known as thriving in both “Boredom” AKA The Lull, and Chaos ??

Let's talk about the wild ride that is being a Recruiting Manager. You know what I mean – one day you're sipping your coffee, staring at your to-do list, and thinking, "Really? This is all I have to do?" ?? And then, before you know it, you're swamped, and it feels like a tornado of tasks and projects just hit you out of nowhere! ???

Now, I'm not one to complain (okay, maybe just a little), but seriously, balancing between feeling underwhelmed and overwhelmed is like riding a rollercoaster.?Like many other Recruiters in this current market, our hiring needs have dramatically shifted to be mostly minimal, critical roles at Next Level Solutions .?This is a major change from hiring nearly 15 people, per month!?

During that busy time I remember wishing I wasn’t so busy and my calendar wasn’t so full, so that I could focus on other priorities like candidate experience improvements, and job posting revamps.?Well… how ironic is this!! Now, I have that “down time” to focus on those projects that were neglected during the busy time and I’m kind of wishing the busy, nearly chaotic time was back, because that’s where I thrive!

But I've recently discovered that I can also thrive in the lull.?It’s about creating my own chaos (Thanks Greg Johnson - SHRM-SCP, SAFe 6 Agilist, CTR ). This is better known as…. The Haley Havoc!!?

So hey, let's flip the challenge on its head and see how we can make the most of it! Here are some super awesome things that I've learned to tackle those moments of boredom and chaos like a boss. ???

Boredom Busters - Spice Things Up!

Embrace the calm moments, because let's be honest… they are rare, but valuable. Use the downtime to get creative and experiment with new recruitment initiatives. Don't be afraid to think outside the box! ?? Try a quirky video campaign for recruitment marketing, attend an interactive webinar, or perhaps even a scavenger hunt to engage with potential candidates. Keep it fresh and exciting!

Cupcakes (or Cookies) and Chaos - Prioritize and Conquer!

When the chaos kicks in, take a deep breath, and don't panic. The key is to prioritize your tasks and focus on one thing at a time. Make a to-do list (yes, I know you have tons already, but trust me on this one), and break it down into smaller, manageable chunks, each day. Cross off those tasks as you conquer them, and feel that sense of accomplishment – it's addictive! ??

Dance in the Rain - Embrace the Unpredictable!

As much as we try to plan, sometimes this life throws us curveballs, and that's okay! Embrace the unpredictability and learn to adapt. It's what makes our job exciting! Keep your recruiting strategies flexible and be ready to adjust as needed. Plus, who doesn't love a good challenge, right? ??

Reach for the Stars - Set Realistic Goals!

During those chaotic moments, it's easy to feel like you're flailing around with no direction. Set clear, achievable goals for yourself and your team. Celebrate the small wins and use them as stepping stones towards your bigger objectives. It's like having your own personal roadmap to success! ??

Build Your Tribe - Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!

Surround yourself with an amazing team, because we can't do it all alone. Delegate tasks and collaborate with your colleagues. Working together not only makes the workload lighter, but also brings fresh perspectives and ideas to the table. And hey, who doesn't want to share a few laughs during those busy days? ??

Self-Care is Non-Negotiable!

Lastly, don't forget about yourself! In this fast-paced world of recruiting, it's easy to overlook self-care. Take time for yourself, whether it's a short walk, a power yoga session, or blasting your favorite tunes for a dance party – do what rejuvenates your spirit. Remember, a happy and centered Recruiter is a force to be reckoned with!
