Haivision joins KAIROS Alliance Partners – greater compatibility for live productions

Panasonic and Haivision are joining forces to ensure better compatibility between their devices. We explain how you will benefit from this symbiosis.

The KAIROS from Panasonic is currently the talk of the town in the AV industry: this IT/IP platform is becoming an increasingly popular centrepiece for high-quality live productions in the AV over IP sector. The reasons for this include the native support of SMPTE ST 2110 as well as the CPU and GPU-based processing.

KAIROS particularly shines with its flexibility, as it is able to combine a wide variety of video sources via the common SDI and, above all, the current SMPTE ST 2110 standards – pretty quickly and completely software-based. The KAIROS has become so popular that manufacturers are actively striving to have their devices run with KAIROS.

Great technical potential in tandem – but make it official

The Kairos Alliance Partners provide a better overview over which manufacturers are included in that circle. Under this name, Panasonic collects all companies and devices that are, following a thorough review, officially compatible with its video production platform. The latest member of the Alliance Partners is the Canadian company Haivision , which is entering its Makito X4 series into the race for KAIROS use.

For the action in live video applications, the Makito X4 can record full 4K UHD or up to four HD inputs with 8- or 10-bit pixel depth and 4:2:2 chrome subsampling and output as 12G SDI video. "We're delighted to become a KAIROS Alliance Partner," says Peter Maag , Chief Strategy Officer and EVP, Strategic Partnerships at Haivision, about the collaboration. "Haivision is committed to the continuous development of reliability, quality and flexibility for broadcast customers. We understand that integrated systems are built on partnerships and interoperability."

Bringing together what works together

With the appointment of Haivision as a KAIROS Alliance Partner, Panasonic has now officially verified and ensured that the Makito X4 series can be used effortlessly with the KAIROS. With that, LANG AG is able to pass on the benefits of this co-operation to its customers basically immediately: Since both the KAIROS and Haivision's devices have been convincing in their own right anyway, they are actually popular products in our rental park already – the customers can easily order the products in a double pack right away.

In addition, with the tech comes obviously the usual expertise in the equipment in particular and live video productions in general. With the well-versed know-how from LANG AG, the customers have the chance to immediately and professionally integrate both KAIROS and X4 together.

In the end, everyone wins

Panasonic also sees the expansion of its compatibility circle in a thoroughly positive light, as KAGEYUKI (Kenny) FUJIMOTO , Lead Manager of KAIROS Alliance Partners, emphasises: "Interoperability ensures that it's easy for customers to seamlessly integrate their existing solutions for maximum efficiency with room to scale as their video processing needs expand."

The cooperation between Panasonic and Haivision is a plus for everyone involved: the two manufacturers benefit from the smooth compatibility of their products; LANG AG is able to offer more flexible and coherent solutions with the necessary expertise; and the customer ultimately has better, more reliable options for project realisations. “Teamwork makes the dream work” – now officially for KAIROS and the Makito X4 series.
