Haitian Heritage Month is celebrated in May to coincide with Haitian Flag Day which is May 18th. To celebrate, I've brought back my Ask A Haitian interviews. You can watch the latest interview on Youtube.


Here are some ways you can celebrate Haitian Heritage Month:??

Language?- Haitians speak Kreyòl (Haitian Creole). You can learn about the language or even learn a few words. Duolingo?has added?Haitian Creole?so download the app and get practicing.?


History?- Haiti was the first black republic and gained its independence from France in?1804. Learning some Haitian history will help you get a better understanding of the culture and?people. Check out this?list of books?to get you started.?


Food?- Haitian food is amazing, if I do say so myself. Try out some Haitian food this month. The app?TapTap?helps you find Haitian restaurants?in your area. Rice is staple dish in Haitian cuisine,?it's prepared in?a variety of ways. Its a good entry into?Haitian food.
