“The things that make me different are the things that make …….. Me” —- Winnie the Pooh
Lessons I learnt from my hair...sounds funny I’m sure. It is awesome how small changes in your life, make such a big difference. I remember being Goldilocks, a long time ago in Delhi, for a community show we had put up. The reason I remember it so well is — I was Goldilocks because of my long curly locks ……….. and it is the most beautiful memory with a friend, who, will always be cherished and remembered with utmost love.
Somewhere down the lane, while growing up...I conventionalized myself to a sleek, straight hair look that I thought to believe - a more aesthetically pleasing look professionally and personally. The lessons I learnt since the pandemic and via my hair … really resonate to me in life and my work place.
1.???? Being different Matters! Be Bold……. Don’t follow norms blindly, think of what makes you different in the best way. As an organization, a person or an institution hone onto what really is your differentiator…..That stands out and makes you visible and noticeable.
2.????Count on muscle/ curl memory………. If you make a habit of anything it forms a memory and ensures consistency and excellence. Curls do have a memory - like muscles. Once you make anything in your life a habit and ensure you practice it daily— it has a way of turning into excellence. Not only excellence but also consistency…….. That is the key to any deliverable…… which helps to excel.

3.????Let things free and things take a natural curl …… curve! Anything that is natural to you comes with ease. Do what you love and it becomes almost second nature to you. Free your thoughts, ideas and creativity from preconceived notions. Learn and evolve — as what comes naturally also needs practice and determination and you will stumble or face obstacles I’m sure. Keep going! As everything needs commitment and dedication ….. Believe me! Even your hair.?????????????????????????????????????????????
4.????Just beautiful the way you are! This last lesson is for all of us out there who feel?or have felt there is a set bar for beauty, brains and creativity. There is not! There is beauty in everything different. You learn from the uniqueness this world has to offer. Embrace it and charge ahead as the world is a gorgeous place because of our differences…….. difference of thought, race, culture, sexual orientation, aspirations, dreams and so much more.?????????????????
I learnt to love my curls again and repeat that differences are good and make you who you are.
Happy Friday!
