Hair Loss [and Regrowth!] in Parkinson’s - Request for Feedback
PHYSICAL SIGNS OF PARKINSON'S AND OF RECOVERY FROM PARKINSON'S?
I would like to take a survey of people with PD about whether they have noted any hair loss on any part of their body and whether they have noted poor quality or brittleness of nails on fingers or toes? The reason I ask I that I amazed to find that hair on my legs is growing is back rapidly - my lower legs have been bald for some years [you can see this in some of my videos from the summer]. But what is really incredible is that my mum and I noticed that there is very definite hair regrowth on my bald spot on my head too! I will be taking and sharing some photos and we will keep the evolutionary photo record updated. As for nails, there is a definite step change in the quality on my big toe, the older part of the nail is yellow, thick and ridged, while the newer part is pink and shiny and smooth. When I went to clip my fingers nails yesterday I noticed a definite change too - they were softer and not brittle like they have been before.
The responses I have had so far are very interesting (see below). The responses from the female demographic were particularly unexpected!
“I have experienced all of this especially the hair loss” [Female].
“I have lost a lot of hair on my head. Thinning is very apparent” [Female].
“The hair on my head is thinner and my nails grow faster than I have ever noticed before.” [Female].
“ Intriguing if this is an early sign? My Dad lost hair from his ;ower legs, we always thought it must have been his Police boots rubbing? One of our PWP contacts did report his nails improved once he got some stem cells. There are some known indicators in the nails, usually wth a nutritional linkage.” [Male].
“ Yes my hair thinning on head ,my legs grow so fast can't keep them shaved!” [Female].
“ I've been having noticeably more hair loss since I started {PD drugs} last May” [Female].
“ I noticed that my nails have gotten thin and weak. Also, the hair on my arms shriveled up.” [Female].
“ My nails and hand pain sadly make it difficult to play guitar” [Male].

7 年My aunt had hair loss wayyyy before any diagnosis. Probably 20+ years would be my guess but I wasn't close enough to know more info.
