Hail To All The "Disruptors"!

I wanna be like Steve.... A DISRUPTOR! To be included in the same breath with someone like Steve Jobs is delusional at best.

Isn't being a disruptor a bad thing? Isn't it the name of one of the weapons used by the Romulans on the TV series Star Trek? Actually, it's a scary word but really shouldn't be. Keep in mind that what we today call a disruptor we called "agents for change" previously.

Let's define what today's society has coined "A DISRUPTOR". Merriam-Webster defines the word "disrupt" as "to cause (something) to be unable to continue in the normal way : to interrupt the normal progress or activity of (something)."

Actually, the actual word DISRUPTOR is not really defined anywhere on the internet... so please bear with me and I will relate to you my definition of a DISRUPTOR.

To me, a disruptor is a person who defies normalcy to facilitate change. These "changes" can introduce something fearfully new, or to initiate major changes in the status quo.  The history of mankind is replete with examples of disruptors making changes, some for good and, unfortunately, some not so good. The establishment in power has never embraced change in a positive manner because it usually means a slow death to their definition of conventionality. Old habits die hard.

And yet, people like the late Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and other recent visionaries were are considered disruptors....and thank god that they were! Just look around at all of the modern day advancements that we enjoy today caused by the creation of these so called disruptors. Imagine what today's disruptors are doing and what tomorrow's disruptors will due.

I am proud to call myself a DISRUPTOR by being part of a movement to make deliberate changes to global business finance through our NEW and Deliberately Different GFC2016 Conference & Expo. The status quo is no longer acceptable to the global business finance management professional because the value proposition for continuing education and networking has been lost. We are challenging the establishment by disrupting today's event by creating the unconventional convention and expo. Will you join us?
