Haiku Day
A haiku is a style of poetry that had its beginnings in thirteenth century Japan,(1) though it did not appear in Japanese literature until the 17th century and was not called haiku until the 19th century. (2)
?A traditional Japanese haiku is a three line poem with 17 syllables written in 5/7/5 format and with a focus on nature or seasons.
It is said that haiku poetry captures a moment in time. So in honor of haiku day and with all the news this week of the power grid concerns in Texas - here is my haiku to capture this moment in time - enjoy!
Summer heat explodes!
Will the grid maintain my cool?
Boom! Lights out. Stars shine.
