Had I Really Been Living Life?

Had I Really Been Living Life?

Had I Really Been Living Life?

A few years ago, a female teammate I was training in Jiu Jitsu with said to me, “I wish I could be more like you. You’re so carefree and happy.” Honestly, I was shocked. I remember feeling grateful that I was inspiring her. I’d taught, trained and coached thousands of students and clients by that point. However I wasn’t focused on that with this person. The Jaycie she saw was the recently single, dedicated, hardworking woman training my ass off -sometimes at my best and other times at my most frustrated and worst. So, I wondered how she was seeing the carefree me.

Then late last summer I was in Arizona and a colleague stopped me and said, “You’re such a cool person and you’ve done so much!” Again, such words rocked me back on my heels. My knee jerk reaction was that it had just been my life. I hadn’t really considered just how fascinating that might seem to other people. Taking a moment to look at it from the outside I saw something different…

  • I’d followed my dreams more than once:
  • I’d built my dance studio and taught dance and tumbling for a couple of decades
  • I’d co-owned a bowling center and a bar
  • I’d ran an international book award contest and had author clients around the world
  • I’d lived on a ranch that spanned across New Mexico and Arizona for six months
  • I was currently living on the border and could see Mexico from my backyard

But, I couldn’t see that my life was fascinating. I couldn’t see it because to me it was just my life. Those that dreamed of more fun and excitement, more #adventure in their lives, they saw it. That one simple statement from my colleague made me begin to reflect on my experiences, and I knew it was time to inspire and support others to live more wild hearted.

To live a wild hearted life doesn’t mean you have to own numerous companies or take off and travel or have another country in your backyard. Yet, finding out what makes your life feel wild hearted, more passionate, more adventurous and more fulfilling is key to really living life. Getting trapped in the repetitive cycle of just going through the motions of day-to-day life without feeling fulfilled is no way to live, in my opinion.

Too many people think they have to dramatically change their lives to live more fulfilled. The majority of people are scared of change; therefore, they simply stop themselves and just keep doing the same thing over and over and only dream about doing things that make their soul sing.

That…that is what lit a fire in me to start the Wild Hearted Life Movement.

I believe wholeheartedly that everyone who feels the call to experience more, to do more, to be more, to feel more fulfilled, should have the support, the guidance and a community of like-minded people to inspire and encourage them to break free and truly live their life! I hope to see you join the Wild Hearted Life Movement -whether you connect with me and my community or take action on your own. It’s past time that you live life to its fullest potential.

Take a look at your experiences and reflect. Then share something that others are often surprised about.
