HACU's 30th Annual Conference was successfully finished. A few weeks ago, I was awarded a CSUSB scholarship to be able to attend HACU conference in San Antonio, Texas.I was so proud of myself being attend this conference and I was honored to represent our university during this grand, collegiate opportunity.
HACU (Hispanic Association of College and University)'s goal is to promote advantages and pathways for members of the community who are underrepresented educationally and socially. During the conference they hosted workshops to help establish competitive identities, offered Q&A sessions with distinguished organizations both at the federal and private level, accommodated career exhibitions, and overall formed networking moments between careers, mentors, and peers.
Definitely it was a great opportunity to networking with people. I've met awesome mentors, students, and corporate people. Before I attended this conference, I was already excited to join this event because I knew HACU conference had prepared great programs for students and met some corporate and federal government employees in reality is different experience outside of the school.
Although I am not a Hispanic. I felt welcomed into the community, and shared connections with aspiring students and experienced mentors. Most of the students I met they were smart and have their dreams to be success in their future. I think it is good feeling surrounded by smart people and this environment keep me motivate in my life. I related to young adults who stuied in the U.S. as an international student, and had to overcome limited opportunities in education and business, but I keep chasing my dream in America and would look forward to my next step.
In conclusion, I am really thankful to HACU's organization and CSUSB ASI to gave me a big opportunity to me. Thank you!
