Hack@Sec 2020 Winners
Jason Fung
Senior Director, Offensive Security Research & Academic Research Engagement, Intel Corporation
Congratulations to the winners of the Hack@Sec 2020?Hardware Security Capture-the-Flag competition! The 48-hour live competition was co-located with the 29th USENIX Security Symposium for the very first time. Teams competed against one another across the globe to find and exploit as many security vulnerabilities in the "buggy SoC" provided by the competition organizers.
Through the fun and educational hands-on hacking event, the organizers attempt to deepen participants' appreciation of the challenges faced by the industry and inspire research interest on effective automation techniques to address common hardware security weaknesses.

Offering a hands-on hacking infrastructure on an industry-like SoC, hardened with realistically-looking security protections, along with a diverse set of security vulnerabilities sprinkled across the entire design is no small feat. Delivering two different CTF experiences at two prestigious conferences in a back-to-back manner with only three weeks apart demands the next level of commitment and professionalism. A big shout out to the Hack@DAC and Hack@Sec Organizing Board for their outstanding collaboration and working tirelessly for the past 9 months to make all these a reality.
If you missed this year's competitions, we look forward to your participation in 2021.
