#Healthhacks #26
Go- digital has become the new normal because of the unpleasant season of COVID. Odd working hours, frequent emails, video calls and webinars have become a jumpsuit, people wear every day to start the work.
The present work culture has impacted mostly on sensitive or emotional employees. Men and women, both who belongs to this category are passing another test on how to keep calm and maintain emotional wellness.
If you are managing your sensitive employees at work, You need to handle with a placid mind. Many times, the deadline of work, limited manpower and stretched work hours snitch your patience level and bursting on your employees happens naturally. Bursting on sensitive employees can make them feel unsafe and they can outburst their emotions.
The majority of the workplace, presently, is facing the negative emotions of employees at work. Employers are finding it tough to get immune from such negative emotions impacting their business. Employees who are sensitive faces problems and cannot express themselves, their health is most questionable.
Conflict and being disagree with something are quite natural. It’s always good to resolve rather than leaving it, however. Because negative emotions are nothing but a hindrance in growth and productivity for both employee and employer.
What are the hacks to handle emotions at work?
Self-care is the prime approach
Seemingly easy but really it’s not. Understand that staying healthy and happy is completely your job to treat yourself better. Waiting for others to push you for self-care is really foolish.
Start yourself. Engage in some physical activity as per your stamina and space availability. Eat healthily and balanced diet to boost your brain. Check out nutritional psychiatry to understand deeper. A healthy body brings much positivity in mind.
Identification of initial step
From the employer point of view, Identification of sensitive employee at the workplace will be really helpful to understand them better. Once identified, an effective communication process will bridge the gap.
Sensitive employees tend to go on the back foot. They need to be encouraged and patted for their work and achievements.
Mental wellness sessions
Not the best time, it’s now a must time for mental wellness. Providing session on emotional wellbeing would really be a big help, especially for sensitive employees.
Beware of sycophants
Be cautious of the people who flatter their boss and create a safe zone at work. They create and also take criticism easily. On the other hand, sensitive employees have the tendency to take criticism and complaints personally, which eventually affects work productivity.
Attack on the problem, not on the person: being human
With the rising tension and stress because of COVID, there is a terror of job insecurity. Meeting the timeline of boss expectation is becoming exasperating and affecting work-life balance. Both employee and employer should focus on the problem and come out with a solution. Shouting and making employee embarrass for inefficient work is not the solution. Unite and deal with the problem and not with the person.
Analyzing empathy quotient
Sensitive people have many great qualities and one of them is being in possession of a great empathy level. They understand human errors and problems better than others. A good employer may assess their empathy level and take their help to understand the issues and problems that arise at work.
Approaching employees with direct communication is a wise idea.
