Hacks for Leaders: Get More Done with Less Stress

Hey New Leaguers, welcome to a special edition of How She Did It!?

I'm excited to share some powerful hacks for you to maximize productivity while reducing stress. As a leader, you often juggle competing responsibilities. This is why it’s important to leverage strategies and systems to streamline your tasks and protect your time and our well-being.

Discussion Highlights:

Time Maximization: Managing time effectively is key to optimizing outcomes and reducing stress. I recommend starting each day by identifying your top three priorities and your top three "NOs." This practice helps you focus on what truly matters and delegate tasks that are less critical.

Delegation: Delegation can be challenging but is essential for productivity. The 10-80-10 rule is a great framework: give 10% direction which defines the project vision, scope, and deliverables, the person to whom you delegated the project, handle 80% of the work (with check-in to ensure alignment), and then you come back and review outcome and provide any tweaks, changes or new recommendation for the final 10%. This model, which I adopted from Dan Martell in his book, Buy Back Your Time builds trust and allows your team to grow.

Bio and Wellness Hacks: Routine is vital for maintaining wellness. Establish AM and PM routines to set the tone for your day and help you create rhythms of clarity, focus, and intention in the am and moments of reflection, wind down rest at night.?

Incorporate movement, hydration, and listening to your body’s needs throughout the day. Simple tools like an Apple Watch or MyFitnessPal can help track your progress and keep you accountable. You can also incorporate these intentions into your calendar daily.?

Fun and Fulfillment: Incorporate joy into your daily life. Identify activities that bring you happiness and make them a part of your routine. Whether it's dancing, drawing, flowers, or spending time with loved ones, make sure you find time for fun and relaxation.

Here's What Else You Can Do:

1. Set Boundaries: Create clear boundaries between work and personal life. This can help reduce stress and increase productivity. Schedule specific times for work and personal activities and stick to them.

2. Practice Mindfulness: Incorporate mindfulness practices such as prayer, meditation, gratitude, or deep breathing exercises into your daily routine. This practice builds our mental health and helps us sustain our well-being even when going through seasons of great change.

3. Automate Tasks: Use technology to automate repetitive tasks. Identifying inbox management folders, filters, and times to review to protect your time to focus on your key priorities. Other systems like project management software, and scheduling apps can save you time and reduce your workload.

4. Learn to Say No: Prioritize your tasks and learn to say no to commitments that do not align with your goals. Remember for everything you say yes to, you are saying no to something else. Define your priorities and filter your Yes through that criteria first. This will help you stay focused on what matters most and avoid overcommitting.

5. Take Regular Breaks: Taking short, regular breaks throughout the day can help you stay focused and energized. Use these breaks to stretch, walk, or simply relax and pause.

6. Seek Support: Don't hesitate to seek support from mentors, colleagues, or a professional coach. They can provide valuable insights and help you navigate challenges.

I challenge you to identify one thing that brings you joy and commit to making it a part of your daily routine. Additionally, plan at least one fun activity for the summer that you can look forward to.

Top three priorities and top three NOs! I love the idea of identifying those "No's" early in the day, especially when you have lots of ideas and tasks to juggle. I could certainly use some work with setting boundaries and saying no. Thanks for sharing these, Melissa!
