Hacking Management Wrapped
Last Edition of 2023
Fahd here!
Welcome to the final edition of the Hacking Management of 2023!
I can't help but think back on the incredible journey we've had together in exploring leadership and management questions and research. I'm grateful for the opportunity to share this space with you and take time every week to reflect on how we can be 1% better as leaders.
For this closing edition, I wanted it to be more than just a sign-off. I want us to take a moment to reflect on some of the topics that resonated the most with you this year.
I invite you, as you review them, to ask yourself how you faced and navigated this challenge this year in your life and work. What lessons do you want to bring with you to set the tone for your leadership for what's to come?
Your Top Pick: Most Popular Read of the Year
Looking back at 2023, one newsletter really stood out—the Unicorn Leaders Podcast Episode 1 with Michael Johnson, President and CEO of Multiview Financials discussing the foundations of leadership. It hit home with many of you.
Michael made leadership feel like a Rubik's cube— If you try to solve one colour at a time (or one aspect of leadership at a time), it's challenging to do so without messing up another side. All fundamental pieces of leadership interconnect. Next time you face issues in an area (e.g., communication), think about where else good communication stems from.
He talked about sticking by your team's growth and always being ready to learn. That's what leadership's all about in a world that's always changing.
As we say bye to this year, let's remember these key things. Leadership isn't just a list; but an interconnected system.
Go back and listen to this episode below.
Your Engaged Pursuits: Standout Insights
The insight that caught your attention the most was shining a light on the fact that half of your employees are already considering moving on, according to the 2023 State of the Global Workplace report (Gallup).
While there's no one-size-fits-all solution to retain talent, we explored enhancing relationships through more impactful one-on-ones. It's about transforming routine updates into meaningful conversations—where open-ended questions create space for your team to truly engage.
If you want to keep your stars in the new year, keep your one-on-ones a space for fostering connection, support and growth.
