Today I want to talk to you about passwords and how important it is to change them frequently and have decent ones. Because one way or another it seems that Hackers can find out your passwords.
Someone I know recently got one of those emails - you know
I KNOW YOUR PASSWORD IS .....
And if you don’t send me lots of money/bitcoins I'm going to send all of your friends the pictures we have of you - videos we have because hacked you and you are nude/doing things private that you would not want to be shared.
Your heart does sink when you read that sort of thing - because it IS your own password.
The standard message below - love how they tell you to use coinbase lol - interesting.
Now, this has been going on for YEARS and we just ignore it when we hear it happening to someone else.
Until it happens to you and you have not changed your password (in years)
Yes, you do worry because they do have your correct password and what have they seen?! Probably nothing but what if...
My friend is young (The ones whom you think are tech-savvy and actually aren't at all - they just use the networks) and she freaked out ...because she hadn’t changed her password since she started the account, so yes they had the correct password and email address.
OH NO! How do they have the correct password she cries!
Remember all those times that Facebook / Snapchat many others were hacked - and passwords were put on the dark web or anywhere really, they are still there, people are still selling them, and using them.
Just Feb last year we saw
617 million online account details stolen from 16 hacked websites are on sale from today on the dark web, according to the data trove's seller.
I was intrigued that I had never had one of these emails so I looked back in an old email address I used to use at the trash ..from 2015 - and there were a few lol ... I'd not even seen them and yes they did have a password I’d used about 10 changes ago. I don't think you ever did see those videos though lol.
So, if you haven’t changed your passwords in the last year I would suggest you do so. Not because they do have anything on you but for peace of mind and well they "could" still hack into your account.
