Hackathons Aren’t Just for Tech Companies: Accelerating Positive Disruption in the Interiors Industry

In the past year we have seen paradigm shifts across all industries. Here’s the interesting thing: In many ways, the pandemic just accelerated changes that were already happening, especially in the interiors industry. But what if we wanted to accelerate our response to that change? This is where the concept of a?hackathon?comes in.

What is a “hackathon”?

You may have heard the word before, but what, exactly, is it? Simply put, a hackathon is applying a design-thinking process to a business challenge. And unless you’re in the tech industry, you probably haven’t experienced one.

It’s essentially an iterative process, where cross-functional groups are gathered together with varying industry perspectives to?create a collaborative solution to a shared problem.?Although they originated within tech companies,?hackathons aren’t just for coders anymore.
