Amazon just released a study on the productivity and SALARY impacts of AI in work, having interviewed 1,000+ companies and 3,000+ employees
Here's the summary:
Employers said that they are willing to pay a premium to people with AI skills
Their research claims these premium salaries are being paid because a whopping 75% of employers say they cannot find people with the AI talent they need.
Great for employees ??
Not great for business ??
Interestingly these salary increases are very similar to the productivity gains people report when using AI for their daily work.
Therefore, if Amazon's research is true, the financial savings gained by AI productivity gains will be cancelled out by the financial costs incurred through salary increases needed to hire people with AI skills.
I suspect this will be a short term blip as the world adopts AI. But it's clear the employees who move fastest to obtain AI skills will see the biggest short term benefits

For Business: Fewer, more productive employees, paid much higher salaries. Zero gain.
