HACC: Commitment to Safety

Good evening, HACC students and employees. 

In light of today’s tragedy at The Ohio State University, we felt it important to reassure all of you of our continued commitment to your safety.  

 Although we have not experienced anything similar at HACC, I feel it is in the best interest of your safety to have open dialogue about this subject. We will continue to do everything necessary to keep our campuses safe, and we ask for your support in this endeavor. You can help by remembering the importance of informing HACC Department of Public Safety and Security whenever you have information related to the safety of students and employees. 

Please remain vigilant and aware of your surroundings. If you see suspicious activities, behaviors or situations, please say something s. In this ever-changing world, we all play a pivotal role in reporting suspicious activities to authorities, which may help prevent or deter an attack in places frequented by all of us. 

The safety and security of our college community are of the utmost importance. HACC’s Department of Public Safety and Security remains ready to respond to emergencies and strives to regularly evaluate policies and procedures to help us with this mission. Though we remain hopeful a safety event, such as an active shooter, is something that we do not have to face in the future, we must do our best to prepare and train for such an event to provide the highest level of safety for everyone on our campuses.

Our thoughts remain with the victims of today’s tragedy, and we hope for a speedy return to normalcy for those affected by this unfortunate event.
