Big change starts small and every small step is an achievement of its own.
When hearing the phrase “spiritual journey” and “spiritual awakening”, our minds usually tend to draw an image of a person meditating on top of a high mountain in the middle of nowhere or someone gazing in admiration on top of a cliff with lush green nature at the bottom. Scenarios differ from one person to the next, but most of the time the meaning of these phrases is associated with huge revelations in exotic places of the world. In reality, this eureka moment happens after a series of small steps and inconveniences.
You don’t have to travel to Bali in the Amazon Jungle in order to find yourself and have a spiritual awakening. Real change starts within you and each day you do something good for yourself is an investment toward the awakening you seek in the future.
Below, we listed six habits that you can start implementing in your daily routine in order to ignite your soul and set you on the path you seek.
1) Practise Gratitude
Gratitude helps us appreciate the small details in our lives that make them beautiful, it shifts our mindsets in a positive manner where we start indulging in all the minor elements that complete our day-to-day routine. A simple method of practicing gratitude is to say out loud to yourself each morning three things you are grateful for.
2) Declutter
Make room for all the good things coming your way! Decluttering is not only physical but can be applied to almost any area of our lives. You can declutter your home, the content on your digital devices, and your mind from negative patterns and limiting beliefs. You can simply start by focusing on one area which you would like to declutter and set that intention for yourself, even if you take a whole day to go through one drawer, it progresses!
3) Get sun and moonlight energy
The sun is a great symbol of masculine energy and the moon represents feminine energy. These types of energies exist within each one of us and creating a balance between them aligns us with the sole purpose we exist to achieve. Taking at least five minutes of your day to stand under the sunlight and a full moon can have a great effect on your mood levels and health. It’s one of many methods by which you can connect to nature and take a break from the fast pace of life.
4) Meditate
It’s no secret that the practice of mediation has limitless benefits for our health and it has been proven countless times that it's the best method to ground ourselves and shift our focus to the present moment. There are numerous ways in which one can practice this act and different methods work for different people, so try out a couple and set a goal of dedicating a few minutes of your day to do so. Doing it in alignment with habit number 3 would be great as well!
5) Get moving
Reward your body with simple stretches throughout the day and daily walks in the open if you can. Moving your body isn’t just beneficial for your health but it also supports releasing energy blocks and accelerates the progress of your spiritual journey. So when you exercise or walk, you are releasing negative energy and making space for the positive.
6) Embrace your creativity
Self-expression can be done in so many different and beautiful ways and tapping into our creativity allows us to enter a state of effortless flow. When we are invested in a certain project or piece we are creating, time and daily pressures slip off our minds as we enjoy the moment of our creation.
All in all, the list of positive habits can be an endless one and the ones mentioned above are simply a source of inspiration for you to kickstart the journey. There is absolutely no pressure in following what we write word for word but we hope that you at least take it into consideration and find your personal favorite method of self-care.
