Habitat for Humanity of Washington County to Host 29th Annual Oktoberfest Dinner Auction

Raised funds will support new home construction and critical repairs for low-income families throughout Washington County

Hagerstown, MD. September 15, 2022 – On Friday, October 7, 2022, Habitat for Humanity of Washington County will host the Oktoberfest Dinner Auction at Cortland Mansion from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. This benefit fundraiser will allow attendees to enjoy German cuisine and participate in games, a silent and live auction, raffles, and more.

Tickets are $60 each and may be purchased online through Habitat’s website at www.habitat-wc.org. Reserved tables may also be purchased; however, ticket sales close on September 26th.

For 29 years, Habitat’s Annual Dinner Auction has raised funds to support programs, such as new home construction and critical repairs throughout Washington County. The Annual Dinner Auction is Habitat for Humanity of Washington County’s premier event that hosts supporters and business partners from across the Tri-State region

This annual event is organized by a dedicated group of volunteers and staff members. “Our auction team is exemplary.?We appreciate their support and our new recruits this year to bring the community a wonderful event.” said Jenny Fleming, Executive Director of Habitat.

This year’s live auction will include a Golden Ticket from Warehouse Cinemas. The “Golden Ticket for Two” is a personalized pass that grants free movie admission, regular-sized popcorn, and a regular-sized drink to both the pass-holder and one guest per visit for 12 months. Other live auction items include a homebrew package, Ryobi lawn mower, and Generac generator.

Attendees will also have a chance to bid on silent auction items including trips to the Caribbean, jewelry, gift baskets, brewery packages and more. An online raffle will launch on September 26th, and it includes a Husky tool chest, a weekend getaway to Savage River Lodge, an autographed baseball by Baltimore Orioles player Adley Rutschman, and other items.

Habitat’s Annual Dinner Auction is made possible through the generosity of community stakeholders and corporate sponsors. “Alsip + Associates is proud to be the official Gold Sponsor of Habitat’s Oktoberfest Dinner Auction.” said Chip Alsip, President of Alsip + Associates.?“By sponsoring this event, we are supporting the Habitat for Humanity mission as they provide families in need of a hand-up through home ownership in Washington County.”

Habitat is currently working on three home constructions in the McCleary Hill development, completing a renovation and coordinating various critical home repairs throughout Washington County. Habitat?homeowners earn the opportunity to purchase a home with family members 18 years or older committing to a minimum of 200 “sweat equity” hours to Habitat. These hours are worked through the constructing of their own home, construction of other future homeowners’ homes, work in the ReStore, and participation in speaking engagements as a Habitat representative. Homeowners are granted no-profit, no-interest loans held by Habitat with affordable monthly payments.
