A Habit All Leaders Should Adopt

A Habit All Leaders Should Adopt

I really love getting emails out of the blue, from people I do and do not know, who have been impacted by my work. I just received this awesome email from somebody who took my class at least 6 years ago, possibly more.???

I wanted to reach out with you one-on-one. I wanted to tell you that I participated in your Management for Excellence and your participation and guidance in that session I still use and share with others to help them. It was a moment in time, but impactful. I follow your newsletter and enjoy reading the insights you share.?????

Thank you for what you do. Keep adding guidance and positivity into the world and I will do the same!?????

I love that last?line, and I will do the same, because that's exactly what she did.????

I was so?touched I sent her an email back. I thanked her for making my day and shared how much her note meant to me. Afterall, to know my effort has lasting impact is what propels me to continue putting the energy in.???

More important than the impact she had on me is the impact this type of behavior would have on her team. I said to her…???

"Leaders who make the effort to share the impact of those around them creative a team of people who want to be around them, work for them, and will go the extra mile for them.”???

It must be great to work for a leader who, even after a long time, makes the effort to say you're having an impact. That is a leader that I would want to work for!???

If you want to create a team of people that will do anything for you, think about letting them know that what they do matters. It is one of the three things that leads to employee job satisfaction as ranked by employees.????

In no particular order they are:??

  1. An understanding attitude from the boss?

  1. Feeling “in the loop” on things and understanding how your work has impact?

  1. Appreciation and recognition???

Her email exemplified two out of the three. That is a habit of a Connected Leader and exactly what we built the?Connected Leader Course?to enable in more leaders.??We just kicked off our?Fall Cohort, it’s not too late to join.???

Make it a goal to thank and appreciate and recognize somebody every day.????

More with Michelle??

It's not too late to sign up for the fall?Connected Leader Course?cohort which kicked off after Labor Day. If you want to experience the 8-week learning journey, build the foundational skills of a Connected Leader, and grow your network, this is for you.?Register Here???

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT??

When one is genuine, others don't only notice--they feel it. & feelings stick. You, Michelle, are genuine. Two years later; I'm not surprised at all.
