Long, long ago, before smartphones, WiFi, and pani puri, there were two cavemen in a little village near Kasi. Golu and Bhola were best buddies, but they had very different ways of handling life’s challenges. Their story shows us that fear and stress can be as different as biryani and khichdi.
Golu was the “hero” of the cave age—brave, strong, and always ready to face any challenge. One day, while picking mangoes near the forest, Golu heard a loud rustling sound. His heart raced faster than a dhol at a wedding. “Arre, yeh kya ho raha hai?” Golu thought, gripping his lathi (stick) like a true desi warrior. This was fear—sudden, sharp, and all about the now. It wasn’t a tiger this time, just a squirrel, but Golu didn’t know that!
Bhola’s brain was like a never-ending masala chai—constantly brewing. He worried about everything: the monsoons, the cave’s roof, even if Golu would eat all the mangoes before he got one. Bhola was always thinking about what could go wrong tomorrow rather than enjoying today.
One day, Golu and Bhola went for their usual morning stroll. Golu heard a rustle in the bushes and jumped back, ready to defend them. It was just a rabbit. Golu sighed with relief and moved on.

But Bhola? He was still worrying. “What if the rabbit has friends? What if there’s a tiger nearby? What if we run out of food tonight?”
Here’s the difference between Golu and Bhola: Fear is like realizing you’ve walked into a meeting with your shirt inside out—your heart skips a beat, but once you fix it, the fear vanishes. Stress is like studying for exams, constantly worrying if you’ve done enough, until you’re more tired from worrying than studying!
Golu faced his fears head-on and moved on. Bhola let stress creep into every part of his day. Fear is sudden and intense, tied to a specific moment. Stress is like that annoying song stuck in your head—it builds up over time and doesn’t go away easily.
Next time you feel like Bhola, take a deep breath. Have some chai, and remember—it might just be a tiny squirrel, not a tiger. And if it is a tiger, well, then you’ve got a real reason to worry—just don’t forget to run really fast!
