H- Human Centric R- Re-imagine the Technology to drive Business priorities

HR in the era of digital Technology , How the HR role will get transformed is the most critical aspect in the new normal world. For any Organization HR is the key function because it deals with Human & Process with technology , HR is the enabler of key business challenges and policies smoothing in any organization. Now with the emerging technology the HR role has more significance on the additional dimension of technology transformation with people centric process and change management to achieve organizational success

It is time to move away from Traditional HR to Techno-functional HR who can bring more value preposition to the organization by enhancing employee experience and customer expectations by steering the wheel of advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Augmented & Virtual Reality, Blockchain technologies etc. to name a few immersive technologies in this competitive world.

Having said , Now lets see some of the Process changes or transformations HR can make in the current status to emerge into next level People friendly Organizational culture . This short summary in the article is just based on my research and ideas, I am happy to hear more ideas and suggestions to build further on this to make HR function more effective and efficient that can help in mutual growth of individual and organizations in the near future.

As per the survey sample mentioned above it is very much evident that the AI will be the future platform that can be leveraged to make work more easier, drive new business models, and boost employee productivity and effective employee engagement

Lets see how HR can reimagine few process to change or transform it using some of the key emerging technologies,

  1. Artificial Intelligence :

  • Hiring process can be streamlined by using AI chat bots that can help in screening and selection of preferred candidates based on the skills, competencies, knowledge and behavioral aspects . Also Virtual interviews can be conducted using RPA , AI-ML Supervised learning machine to drive the end-end interview and on-boarding process smoothly and avoid any biasness in the entire process flow
  • Employment Key Milestones can be celebrated using the Process bots that can create a platform for unbiased rewards and recognitions and key recommendations for promotions and career progressions with learning ability recommendations
  • Profile Match and Learning programs to upskill the talent pool within the organization, based on trend and predictive data analysis AI systems can bring tailor made potential matches for learning, upskilling and practical exposure with project recommendations to ensure the successful implementations and exposure based on the domain expertise
  • Mental wellness programs can also be enhanced to ensure both physical and mental wellness of the employees by having a Health related program analysis and recommendations from time to time for the real time checks and measure for employee and their families too, this will ensure work-life balance and HRs can drive the process smoothly with more time to spend on people centric strategies and policies by leveraging on the AI process bots to help building the rapport with the employees
  • Exit management can be streamlined to have similar kind of effective interview system without any bias that help capture top most reasons why employees leaving the organization and AI systems can recommend it to HR and Management to ensure process change management and cultural orientation enhancement as applicable to control the attrition rates

2. Internet of Things, Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality technologies in HR

  • IoT , AR and VR are key emerging and immersive technologies that can be leveraged more to create better user experience and time saving , cost effective platforms :
  • AR/VR based employee Onboarding can help organizations to build the platform to showcase the work culture, Key Policies, Infrastructure, Benefits management, Safety measures and Key Dos & Don'ts as a part of employee inductions both remotely and in-Person using Augmented or virtual Office tour . Even Family members of the new employee can be made part of this tour where it is not a data sensitive informational aspect.
  • Performance Management systems can make use of the AR/VR to capture the real time behavioral aspects of every employee along with gamification of the performance rewards system with bonus point or grading system to help create competitiveness among the teams . Mood analysis can also be measured using IoT devices and help understand the sensitive areas and behaviors that needs to be addressed or improved via effective change management and Policies.
  • Mental wellness is one of the key aspect of an individual, It is prime responsibility of an organization to ensure the workplace culture is stress free, unbiased and free from politics and toxic nature. IoT devices can help in recommending the well-being and self-care programs that can boost employee productivity and help in keep them healthy and stay positive to deliver more in their job. AR/VR related technology can be used to build simulated workplace safety and Alerts from time to time about the WHO related information and the best way to boost resilience and Gratitude aspects for every employee. Some free time patterns can be scheduled on weekly basis where the employees can use AR.VR technology to have a tour with the family for their choice of interest in terms of places and also have a connect with the external world to build network of talent and competencies.
  • Training & Development is the key and critical aspect where the AR/VR/Mixed reality concepts can help build tailor made , self paced learning opportunities to the employees and also save more time and cost in the case of difficult and risk taking operations or tasks that the employees has to perform without any faults. On the Job training programs can be built with simulated test cases that can help training new recruits and existing employees to learn in detail about the job profile and expectations with key competencies and skillsets needed to perform the job easily and effectively.
  • Key Retention strategies can be built with AR/VR technology where the critical talents can be given the opportunities for visioning their future roles and areas of interest with the tour made via case studies and scenarios based on the experts domain knowledge and experience in each function. In addition to this the rewards and recognition can be switched into VR mode where the families of the employee who is receiving the reward can be made available to be witnessed on social media all over the world and this gives more visibility to the employee and make them feel proud and happy
  • Weekly or Monthly Innovation labs can be arranged where the platform helps employees and team to boost their creativity by envisioning the prototypes of projects using AR/VR technology and help them review the progress of the projects from time to time,

3. Blockchain Technology

  • Candidate Background checks can be made easy and error free using Blockchain technology that will help eliminate biasness, Fraudulent issues in the profiles and also help recruiters in filtering out better CVs for shortlisting and interviews
  • Employment History and other credentials can be easily tracked by any employer without having manual intervention from candidates to produce any certificate or credentials they acquire during their employment and academics
  • Health & medical history , reports can be stored for all employees and can be retrieved by the employers when needed without any delays mainly in case of emergencies . Annual check-ups and recommended medical process can be tracked and monitored to help the employees stay healthy and safely in the organization
  • Learning Certifications can also be stored and made handy with strict and encrypted system environment and help each employee to refer it in one single place with tokenized system process and also since it is immutable it has more data security and also no fear of data loss due to decentralization and distribution pattern in the chain of network systems
  • Payroll Management can be handled smoothly including global payments and taxations using blockchain and tokenized crypto currency or digital currency that gets directly paid in desired unit value to the recipients without any mediator in between following strict governance and consensus in public and private or hybrid blockchain system
