Have you got a gym membership?
Do you use it regularly?
Do you use it, but hardly ever?
I spoke to a business leader last week, a very successful one. He was proud to tell me that he started his business 25 years ago, had bootstrapped it and grown it into a 30 million pound turnover BEAST. I was impressed.
He went on to tell me about all of his past achievements in business and sports.
"I was a semi-professional footballer from 1988 - 1996. Scored 62 goals."
" I used to run half marathons every other week."
As I looked through the Zoom camera at him, I could feel his heart rate quicken, and his ego begin to rise higher into his throat. He could tell I had heard this same story 500 times.
He was 51 years old, at least 20 kg overweight, his face was bloated and as red as a beetroot. He was (for want of a better phrase) a heart attack waiting to happen.
As he continued to tell me how fit and strong he USED to be, he moved on to what he does now.
"I have been a member of my local David Lloyd for 12 years; it's got a lovely pool, a sauna and a steam room."
As the words left his mouth I could see he regretted it.

I asked the obvious question, "How often do you go?"
He LOL'd.
"Well, I use the coffee bar and have the odd sauna, but I never have the time!"
We estimated that he went on average three times per year, and that was to have a sauna and more coffee (he later admitted a pint) in the bar area.
I did some basic maths.
David Lloyd's membership is £180/ month for 12 years, that's £25,920.
If he goes three times per year, that means it costs him £720 every time he has a sauna (not including the three pints that he now admitted he has consumed on each visit.)
This is an EXTREME example, but I hear it all the time. Just having a gym membership may make you feel better that you do nothing for your health. But it doesn't do anything to help; it just wastes your money.
If this sounds like you, here are some resources that won't cost you £25,920. In fact, they are totally free https://www.dhirubhai.net/smart-links/AQFy_CWX5FVC2w )
