Gutted to see our beef/lamb farmers get a rough deal in the new trade deal with Australia.

Much of Australian beef and lamb is intensively farmed; we know this farming method damages the environment but Australia goes further and still engages in massive deforestation and land clearing to create pasture land. On top of this we are then adding the carbon footprint of importing from Australia. It just seems ludicrous.
The meat might be cheaper, but really, what is the true cost of our food? Is it screw the environment, screw the local economy, screw our farmers and our health so we can spend more on nice trainers and better holidays?
We, as a nation, spend less on our health and real food than any other nation in Europe and wonder why we are the sickest. It appears to me that culturally we do not value food or connect it with health outcomes.
Unprocessed meat is one of the most nutrient-dense food on the planet, with no conclusive evidence that it is 'bad' for you. Quite the contrary, we are in desperate need of good nutrition.
My advice is to buy real food, produced well, as an investment into our health pension, support our local economies and our farmers.
To start with, look at the labels in the supermarket and buy British produce.
If you can go a step further, buy from farmers markets, connect with our farmers and food producers.
