We buy with emotion and justify with logic.?The brain in our head contains roughly 100 billion neurons.?In the other brain lining our gut there are approximately 100 million neurons that make up this second network of neurotransmitters.?This other brain is connected with the one in our head but does not contribute to conscious thought.?Information is carried from the gut to the brain and not the other way around.?A big part of our emotions are influenced by the nerves in our gut.?Stomach butterflies are an example.
Our emotional well-being may rely on messages from the brain below to the brain above.?The ability to make gut decisions in the blink of an eye has become increasingly important.?When we meet someone for the first time, or walk into a house we are thinking of buying, or read the first few sentences of a book, our mind takes about two seconds to jump to a series of conclusions.?Emotionally intelligent individuals often rely on these gut instincts in helping to make important decisions.
