Gurus in HR

Gurus in HR

A Guru is one who drives the darkness of ignorance in his disciple by clarifying his doubts and thus kindles the light of knowledge and wisdom in him. However a Guru appears only when a disciple is ready to receive knowledge. So we need to first develop that urge to know and find out the truth.

Who are Gurus in HR profession

Mentors â€“ Mentor is one who has sound knowledge and experience in his functional area and shares them with his mentee (employee) in sharpening his knowledge and shaping positive behaviors in him that help him move ahead in his career. Thus it is a relationship based on trust between them.

Coach â€“ A coach is a supportive guide to managers/supervisors who helps them solve problems thru asking tough questions and then by advice and guidance, help them make course corrections wherever needed. Thus a coach enables the manager to enhance his competencies thru his own effort but does not step in his (manager’s) shoes to solve his problems.

Manager â€“ He is in a leadership position with responsibility to contribute to business goals. This is possible when he is able to bring the best out of his team. Thus he has the responsibility to keep his team motivated by holding morale boosting conversations and showing keen interest in developing potential in his team.

Cheer leaders â€“ They are the friends and colleagues who honestly cheer the efforts, accomplishments and success of an employee and thus help him build confidence and courage to face new challenges.

HR leaders – Influencers They are the flag bearers of HR movement for continuous improvement of HR.Listening to their talks and reading their articles impart vast knowledge of the subject and help keep abreast of new developments in the field.

Let us recall their contributions to our career and express gratitude to them.
