Guru Purnima For Me
The Guru Purnima is a day to express gratitude towards Guru or the teacher. It is celebrated on the first full moon day of Asadh month per Hindu calendar or, the month of July per Gregorian calendar. There are many definitions of Guru such as, teacher, mentor, guide, spiritual teacher, expert etc. The word Guru is derived from two Sanskrit words “Gu” and “Ru”. “GU” means ignorance and darkness in a person and “RU” refers to those who removes that darkness from the person. It is celebrated by Hindus, Budhdhists, Sikhs and Jains.

The syllable gu means darkness, the syllable ru, he who dispels them. Because of the power to dispel darkness, the guru is thus named. — Advayataraka Upanishad, (Wikepedia)..
It plays very important day in my personal life. Over the years I have come across many gurus. The list is long. Few were in my life for very short time and I still remember them after years. Gurus instill values and teach various skills over the years to navigate our life through difficult times. I just wanted to pay my gratitude to my loving parents, all my gurus I met, in my school, college, family, neighborhood, work place, on the street and everywhere, on this Guru Purnima.
Happy Guru Purnima 2020 to you all.
