Gurl in Pearl city!

It’s been a while since I came to this pearl city! As I continue to find my rhythm, I often stop and look back at all those grateful moments but more those grateful souls who made the journey easier.
I’m often asked by my friends; how did I go about shifting bases completely. Honestly, it wasn’t so hard. Thanks to my parents who themselves embraced change every time dad had to transfer to a new city for work. That is what gave me the very first lesson of my life:
1.??????Change is the only Constant
While growing up, change for me meant, new city, new language, new school, new teachers, new friends & so much more. And yet, I don’t recall being upset over it ever. I was always game. Because my parents were always game. An apple doesn’t fall far from the tree right ??.
The seeds sown then, led on to infuse & inspire adaptability, courage & inclusivity.
And don’t these resonate with some of the core values that people & organizations live by?
So, I say, derive motivation from your life journey and imbibe them in your workplace as well.
Don’t be afraid of change.
Ride the change or bring a change or be the change.
And these days almost any individual moves across some border for education or work. Some do it sooner some later. In doing so, they pick up many lessons on the way. One most obvious one:
2.??????Be independent

Independence can mean different things to different people.
But, simplistically put – ‘To be independent is to be capable to do it yourself’.
The journey from no kitchen to Maggi to first tea to first map shaped chapati. The journey from pocket money to setting up your own bank account to paying your rent, buying your monthly supplies, & so on.
If you are open to learn, it opens more doors for you. So even at workplace.
Be open to learn, be open to new challenges, be open to the unknown.
As people learn different things, some go on to become specialists, other generalists. There is no way to say one is better than the other as the world needs both ??. And even as we learn to do things on our own, just the way we want; there are moments when we should remember one of the most important lessons:
3.??????Don’t shy away from help
Oftentimes we go solo. Maybe we want to prove something to the world or to ourselves. Maybe it is to get a sense of achievement. Maybe we just feel we don’t have a choice.
But sometimes all we have to do is Ask! Even so, sometimes all we have to do is say Yes!
Give people a chance. A chance to let them help you.
And when you open up to alternate views, perspectives, dimensions and experiences, you will see wonders happening at the workplace through collaboration. Try not to limit the outcomes to only your experiences, judgements, or calculations.
So, all in all, when it comes to life, Mix it up a bit, Stir it up a bit!
