Gunners and Dunners – A Chip off the old block…
Just been talking to an old mate of mine, we met at an FSB National Conference years ago…
“A bit like Trump and Kalashnikov?” I hear you ask… not that FSB you fool ;)
The Federation of Small Business, I was Chair of East Berkshire FSB at the time and Chip Carpenter was garnering support for the FSB Credit Union which I thought was a jolly good idea and proceeded to sign up. Glad I did, a few years later when in need of some cash flow and discovered I’d been paying in rather more than I had thought… CASH BONANSA!
I’ve heard the word “focus” used a few times in the last week... once by an award wining, got the toys to prove it, business speaker... once by my daughter in relation to positive thought "Bullshit!" she said, "You have to take action..." and latterly by Chip himself in regards to his desire to be it a bit more often... it is so true… to get to where you want to be you need to have the energy to crack on and be a Gunner (going to do it) and the focus, clear mindedness to keep on the same path and not get distracted by the next shiny thing to come your way… easier said than done as many of us get bored with the same rhythm, while others are focused on the end game…
Hats off to them, I see the relevance and importance as the clock ticks louder!
Dunners are obviously those who have done it and wear a nice big shiny “t-shirt” saying so… usually in the form of a big "red" (other colours are available) motor sitting on the driveway… mind you, some of those are DUDDERS ;)
Nice to chat Chip… you did happen to mention that you are looking to get back into LinkedIn so I hope you don't mind, I'd like to ask folk to invite you to connect... if you could invite Chip to connect, that would encourage him to join us in this new world of LinkedIn at some very ripe old age ;)
Tee hee... thank you for giving me the title for today's story Chip...
And thank you everyone for reading it...
