?? Meet?Max Ramírez, Sales Director at GumGum.

Max shared with us his favorite food, music, and family traditions, and how he shares his family heritage with his two daughters ??

What Hispanic/Latinx community do you represent??

Dominican-American.

What's one thing you love about your heritage that you want to share with us? (Think food, music, family traditions & more)?

FOOD: I love Dominican food but living in California there are limited options. Dominican culture mostly can be found in the East Coast (New York, Miami, and Boston). However, I'm lucky my mom moved to California so I get to get some mommy food when I visit her.?

MUSIC: I listen to all genres but what gets me dancing is Dominican music such as Merengue, Bachata, and Reggaeton.

FAMILY TRADITIONS: When I was a teenager, I visited my grandparents in DR during my Summer break and I loved the experience. They had a farm and I enjoyed learning about animals and agriculture.?

How has your family & heritage shaped your perspective and influenced your life??

I was born in New York and raised in Corona, NY which was a town in Queens that had a large population of Dominicans. I grew up seeing Dominicans as entrepreneurs in my neighborhood because they recently arrived as immigrants at a late age and that was their only choice for achieving the American Dream. I grew up working hard at a young age while going to school and eventually obtaining my MBA as an adult. I feel I got my hustle and passion for work with my heritage being a Dominican-American.

As a Latino dad I try my best to share my heritage to my two daughters because there is very little Dominican influence in California. However, I do share the music, food, movies, and can't wait to take them to the Dominican Republic in the near future.

What is one piece of advice you would give to your younger self navigating hardships or challenges you faced as a minority in the Hispanic/Latinx community??

It may seem odd, but I never saw myself as a minority. I simply work hard to achieve all things I want in life. I feel blessed to have joined a company like GumGum that truly cares about their employees.
